Areas Protected by Levee: Areas that are protected by permanent or emergency flood protection measures. In the event of an unsuccessful flood fight, these areas could be subjected to flooding.
Ponding: Areas that lie below the elevation of water levels in the river, but do not have a direct surface connection. These areas could be affected by flooding from local drainage or storm sewer backup.

The site is maintained by the International Water Institute with funding from the MN Red River Watershed Management Board and the ND Red River Joint Water Resource District.
